What is hemp?
Hemp has been used for thousands of years in everyday products including clothing, rope, cereal, soap and even construction. As of 2013 the federal law defines hemp is a cannabis plant that has no more than of .3% THC by weight. THC levels that low have no ability to produce a psychoactive effect and therefore, hemp cannot intoxicate. Although in the future it is possible for the law to allow higher than .3% THC to give farmers a wider margin of error for their cultivation efforts.
Cannabinoids are molecular structures that are naturally produced by both the human body and the cannabis plant. There are over 60 types of cannabinoids in cannabis and each has a different purpose. The human body has an entire system of receptors designed to receive messages from cannabinoids. The two most recognizable of these cannabinoids are THC and CBD. THC, (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis; it has been used to reduce pain and relax. THC can alter visual, auditory and olfactory senses. CBD is thought to have an even wider range of uses from medicine. It is believed to help rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, nausea, bowel disorders and also has neuroprotective effects and anti-cancer properties.
Is there CBD in Kender?
Yes, we have searched far and wide to find hemp flower that is higher in CBD than most normal hemp varieties. We have decided to use high CBD hemp because of the sheer number of potential benefits. Though not enough studies have surfaced at this point to prove the benefits of CBD, we believe that if you enjoy smoking hemp, you might as well be smoking high CBD hemp.
Terpenes are the primary constituents of the essential oils of many types of plants. Essential oils are used widely as fragrances in perfumery, and in alternative medicines such as aromatherapy. Terpenes are chains of aromatic hydrocarbons that actually waft from the source into your nose when you smell them. When you inhale these terpenes is that when you inhale them, they provide effects. We leverage these terpenes to create our proprietary Chill, Bold, and Fusion blends. Each blend contains terpenes that provide specific effects related to the flavor.
The Federal Government passed the Agricultural Act of 2014. It governs many facets of the Nation’s agriculture through 2018. Included in the act was section 7606: Legitimacy of Industrial Hemp Research. Section 7606 authorizes institutions of higher education and state agricultural departments to allow cultivation of industrial hemp so long as hemp has several purposes, administrative criteria is met and the plant has no more than .3% THC by dry weight. Most recently, Colorado passed the Industrial Hemp Act of 2015 which develops processes for registering people to cultivate industrial hemp as well as sell and export the product from the stat on a national basis.
